Day 5 … White
cloud and a disappearing loch…
Woofffffffff,
hi everyone Louis of Loch Awe here…. that’s my new name… I think it rather
suits me.
Well I've still not managed to find out where the loch goes in a morning, I've even lowered my standards and asked a few of the ducks that live on it, they all started
laughing at me saying I really am as stupid as I look, I said hey hang on if
anyone is stupid round here, it’s Olga! Have you seen her ears!
Anyway I
think I know who is stupid and it’s them, because they didn't know either but
instead of just saying that, they tried to make fun of me, I just shouted for
Olga and told her the ducks were laughing at her, she set off after them and I
don’t think the ducks realised how good a swimmer she is, I was shouting,
“Quick duckies she’s right behind you!” Their little legs must have been going like crazy under the water… HA whose stupid now!
The local dog
(he did tell me his name but I couldn't understand him anyway) whose lived here since
he was a pup didn't know where the loch goes at night time either, he said he’s been trying to work it out for years and
has even stayed up all night, but the Loch must have known he was watching him,
because it stayed where it was… I said I wonder if the Loch monster called Ness
drinks the loch each morning and because it’s a fire breathing monster, it
replaces the water with steam!!! Which is the white stuff in a morning! – Yes
that’s it!, it all makes sense now….wow how clever am I, just you wait till I
tell those ducks!
We all went
for a walk today, back into the woods, and yes we even took Mum with us. Dad
wanted to show Mum the new obstacle course me and Olga have, it’s great there
are loads of fallen trees, and hidey holes, and it’s a great place to play hide
and seek. Mum seemed ok today, not as worried about us, and she didn’t look
like a poodle either (which between me and you is a lot better look!), Dad
followed our normal route which involved Mum jumping over a little stream, well
when I say stream it was more of a mud hole. Anyway she did really well, and
with Dad’s helped she managed to land on the other side.. phew
We played in
the forest for a while, its ace in there it’s dark and really quiet, and
there are no birds or anything, except lovely smells. Dad was showing Mum all
the different trees and how to name them by looking at their leaves, he’s dead
clever my Dad, of course I knew all the different ones because I’m a joiner as
well, so I was bringing sticks to Mum from all the trees, and she threw them
for me, although she does throw like a girl, not like Dad, his throws go for
miles, but Mum does her best.
We started to
head back to the truck as it was getting dark, and when we got to the bit where
Mum had to jump across the stream, Dad said hang on and I’ll help you
across, me and Olga had been jumping backwards and forwards and it had gotten a
bit muddy, so when Dad said “Ok ready, steady, jump” Mum jumped but her foot
slipped as she landed and she went flat on her knees, in the mud! Now when
something like this happens you should not do either of the following…
1) You should not laugh
2) You should not make a joke of it
3) You should not ask Mum to ‘do it again’
I failed on
all 3 as did Dad, to make things worse Olga ran up to Mum saying “Isn't the mud
ace mum!”
Dad helped
Mum up and asked if she was ok, and tried not to laugh, but to be fair to Mum
she did see the funny side…. After a while.
We go home tomorrow :(
Love Louis and Olga xx
