Louis’s Mum here….
Louis’s has crashed today, his PCV levels are now 13% from 22% at the end of
last week.
He has been
over to see Stefano and other than a very expensive operation and more blood
transfusions there is nothing more we can do for our handsome boy.
The operation
is called a splenectomy, where they remove his spleen. The spleen is where the red blood cells are destroyed before leaving the body. The thinking behind this is by removing it, it will allow his red blood cells to remain in his body, but could leave him open serious infections afterwards. This is a last ditch
chance to save Louis, but as with everything to do with this disease it costs a
fortune, we are just waiting to find out how many thousands we are facing,
which of course will more than likely make the decision for us. There is no guarantee
it will even work, but it is his last hope.
I cannot even
begin to explain how heartbroken we are, we really thought we had done
everything possible to beat this horrid condition.
I wish Louis
was writing this blog telling everyone how amazing he is feeling, but as I
write this he is sat at my feet trying his hardest to keep going.

So sad to hear that Louis is not well again. You have tried your best and he is such a lucky boy to have you. Really hope he finds the strength to get through this relapse. Everything crossed here for you all.
