Hi Everyone Louis Mum here…
Unfortunately, things are not looking good for our
handsome boy, Mr Jones our vet confirmed there was nothing more he could do for
Louis and he had exhausted everything within his power, the only option was to
refer Louis to Rutland House Veterinary Hospital.
We also found out our insurance wouldn’t cover Louis because
his records show he has suffered from ‘Billy Ruben’ in the past, so we will
have to fund his treatment, which in itself is a scary thought, but we love him
so much so there wasn’t really a choice to make.
Nicky who is one of the nurses at Mr Jones’s surgery made
the call to Rutland House at around 18:15, and spoke to the people there and
explain how urgent this was, and how critically ill Louis is. She was able to
get us in tonight which is just amazing, once she had made the call she came
round to give him a big cuddle and lots of kisses.
We headed off to Rutland and arrived around 19:40, Louis
was seen straight away, by a lovely vet and nurse, he was weighed and checked
over. The vet asked us a load of questions about his health and what’s been happening
since Christmas Day. He listened to Louis chest and took his temp (which he
didn’t like) then he advised that they would be running a series of tests, scans
and x-rays tonight, and possibly a blood transfusion tomorrow. We were asked to
sign a number of forms one which provided us with an estimate for the treatment
and already we are at £2000 (I said it was scary)
The hardest part was leaving him there overnight on his
own, I know they will look after him, but it’s the first time he’s been left on
his own, we even take him on holiday with us! They advised they will call us
tonight with an update on the preliminary tests, so we are just waiting for the
call.
I’ll keep Louis blog updated
Karyn
