Day 3 at Nethermill and FOND.

This morning was a bit of a lazy start, I decided to have a lie in and didn't get Mum and Dad up till gone 7:30! Mum didn't seem to want to get up straight away so, me and Dad went out for a walk and a play, it was really cold, but I didn't care, I needed to make sure none of those pesky birds had decided to turn up! Plus the sea always managed to leave me a present, yesterday it was a big log and I wanted to see what it had left me today. Plus I saw another dog yesterday, it looked a bit like me but really really shrunk down.. Dad called it a dachshund I laughed and said it doesn’t look like it could dash anywhere with those tiny little legs... even Lady Lou would beat it haha.

When we went into the field I went running off to the beach to find my present the sea had left, and there it was, a big pink ball, as I got closer the ball got bigger, it was huge!!. I picked the rope up it was attached to and went running off to show Dad, I gave it a shake and the ball bounced off my head, Dad thought it was really funny and wanted a closer look, but I thought nooooo this is mine he will have to catch me first... haha. After a while Dad said we better get back in and decide what we are going to do today.

Mum was up when we got back on MY LAPTOP and she said that Pam had been in touch thanking them for tea, Mum said that she had offered to take the dogs out again... I thought “Oh no not Lady Lou again”!!!... I think Mum has a soft spot for her, and that Lady Lou knows it because she flashes her puppy eyes at her. Mum knows only my puppy eyes melt her heart!

When we got to Pam's, I had to stay in the car again to keep guard because Dad was taking Nelson out, and Mum was taking the blue job Cleo, I didn't mind because I had a new coat Pam had given me, it was one of Nelsons so actually it was a working coat, as I would be guarding FOND HQ, hehehe it makes me sound like that spy Mum likes ermm what's his name 007, well I am 002 ½ (because I'm past 2 now).

It seemed like they had been gone ages, when they finally turned up, Mum looked a bit worse for wear, she said Cleo had pulled her into a ditch and she had got a welly full of water haha, I tried not to laugh, so I gave her a big kiss, Dad said it was Mum's fault for not letting Cleo run in front. Anyway we all went in for a cup of coffee and a biscuit, I had really earnt my biscuit all that guarding is tiring.

Once we had all warmed up a bit, Pam asked if we wanted to take Lady Lou to the beach just the 4 of us, I thought “say no Mum say no” but I knew when her face lit up that I was just going to have to share my Mum and Dad for a little while longer. So we all got ready to head off to the beach, we went in my car so Dad put the back seats up, so one of us could travel in the back and one on the seats on Dads knee, of course any normal dobe would have said “Louis as this is your car and your Dad you can have his knee” but ohhh noooo not Lady Lou she jumped straight on his knee and laughed at me, well I wasn't having that and gave her the loudest WOOF! She just tutted and said “Ok baby you can sit on your Daddies knee like a puppy” Ooofffff the cheek of her, I'm not a puppy I'm a big boy. However just to prove I was a dog and not a puppy, I didn't sit ...completely... on his knee... I still had one paw of the seat so there ha!.

Lady Lou jumped in the back and sat with her head on MY DADS shoulder all the way to the beach, she kept giving me a sly smile... but I knew what she was up to, and I would show her on the beach that I'm the top dog and the fastest!. Mum drove us there and pulled into the car park, Dad opened the door and let me out, and because it was empty both me and Lady were allowed to run up onto the beach straight away. Dad ran with us and Mum toddled on behind us all … with her camera.

The waves were really big today and when the came onto the beach they made this white stuff like bubbles in my bath, I thought “hang on has Mum made the sea into one big bath ?” but when I ran down to it, I knew she hadn't because it was freezing! I found a stick and then I saw this black thing out of the corner of my eye, I turned round to see what it was but nothing was there, so I carried the stick to Dad so he could throw it for me, then I saw it again, this black dot in the corner of my eye, I turned round to look but again nothing was there... strange...

Dad was about to throw the stick when I saw the black dot again, jumping up for MY STICK the black dot was that Lady Lou, Dad threw it and she beat me to it and took off running up and down showing off, I tried to catch her but she was way too quick..... ermmmm... actually no.. I didn't tryyy to catch her... what I meant to say was I knew it was her and so she didn't feel like a slow coach I gave her a head start.... yeah that's how it was... I let her think she beat me in a race... but she didn't ...honest.....no really you can ask my Mum.... who loves me very much.

Lou dropped the stick for Dad to throw again and I thought “right I’m gonna get this one” Dad threw it into the sea and we both set off for it, and because I know Lou only likes to 'paddle' I knew I would win this race.. it didn't stop her chasing after me and grabbing the end of the stick, we ended up having a tug-o-war match again, which I won because I'm a lot bigger... but I'll say Lady Lou did try her hardest to get it from me... at one point I was only holding it by 2 teeth hahaha.

On the way back to the car Lady Lou spotted the bubbles from the sea and started chasing after them, she caught a few of them but needed my help as well, when we got near the bit where we go off the beach Dad called Lady Lou back and put her on her lead so Mum could walk her to the car, I was good and stayed next to my Dad's side, I kept looking back at Mum and Lady Lou and thinking I wonder what those two are talking about …. or more like I wonder what that Lou is plotting..

When we all got back to Pam's Lady was given a towel down and an drink and then she was put in her kennel in the kitchen for a sleep, she was wrapped up like a baby, Cleo was in the other kennel making a right racket moaning and whining, because I was a guest I didn't have to go in the other kennel, so I just wandered round the kitchen, Pam had made soup for Mum, Dad and John and they were all about to tuck into it, when Mum said I had to sit away from the table because I know the rules, no noses on tables... I wasn't happy and didn't listen, I'd been on my best behavior all weekend, so I was naughty and ignored my Mum, guess what she did...... I still cannot believe it.... she asked Pam to put me in the other kennel in between Lady Lou and Cleo, well you can imagine what those two were like, Lady Lou just laughed at me and said “what a thicko” and Cleo said “Ha that serves you right for being a naughty boy, maybe your Mum and Dad are going to leave you now”.... I must say I was worried for a second so I made sure I gave Mum my biggest “I'm sorrryyy” puppy eyes everrr, and it worked she let me out... I don't think I'll try that again.

After lunch we all said our goodbyes and Pam said she wanted a photo of me, so I had to go out in the garden and smile, John brought his camera out and I thought, “hang on a second, I remember this game, if I smile and stand still I get a yummy sausage” and I did, I love that game. I was a bit sad saying goodbye to Pam and FOND HQ, and I loved visiting, but I loved coming home with my Mum and Dad more... till next time Lady Lou x

Hi Louis ( and Ash) - my name is Logan and I'm also a FOND dobie boy . I have been with my new family for almost a year and a half. They love me to bits, and I really love them (I'd love them even more if they let me sleep on the bed!!). Me and Mum like reading your blogs,Louis and we especially liked your videos of being at the beach with Lady Lou. I've already met Lou Lou - she is a cute little thing, but man she is fast!!
My mum is from Scotland and she lived near the beach - we are MILES away from the beach where we live now. Mum keeps telling me she will take me one day..it looks like fun!! I go for walks in lovely fields - Mum tells me to be careful as I broke my leg when I was a pup (I'm fine really -she worries to much!!) I was 4 last week so I'm getting a bit older but am still a bit loopy at times!! I'll post a picture when I can work out how to do it... Take care for now.. Logan

Hi Ash, I heard my Mum talking to your Mum the other day asking bout Nethermill so hopefully you might be going to visit My Other Beach haha, it's brilliant the sea leaves you lots of presents... I want to go back again. Pam would love to see you but make sure you take your wellies because it gets a bit muddy when you take Nelson and Jenna out, and if the 'Blue Job Cleo' is still there make sure you walk in front of her, she likes to know where everyone is haha...

Hiya Logan, I'm glad you like my blogs, its a great way of letting everyone know that us rescue Dobies can have a happy life and that FOND always finds us some brilliant Mums and Dads.
That Lady Lou looks fast but she carn't run as far as me, I was only playing with her really, I'm well fast hahaha, but you know what girls are like they cry when they don't win.
Your place sounds nice, although you would love a beach too. Ouch I bet it really hurt when you broke your leg :( I'm glad you better now though...

Thanks for getting in touch
Woof soon xx
Louis
