News from Rutland House....

Hi Everyone Louis’s Mum here…

We took Louis to Rutland house yesterday for his check up and to see what was wrong with his paw, as it is swollen and he has licked all the fur off his leg, his paw is hot and looks a mess, and he is also limping on it. It started to swell in the car when we were coming back from Scotland, we have no idea what’s caused it, we’ve been trying to think if he’s caught it on something or banged it getting in and out of the car, but we are drawing a blank.

Stefano checked him over and paid particular attention to the lumps that have appeared all over his body, as well as his paw, he also weighed him and it seems he has lost quite a bit of weight, after what felt like a life time Louis was brought back to us and we waited to be called into the consultancy room.

Stefano came in and advised his blood count has dropped to 20 from 23 which isn’t good and he also said he has lost around 3 kilos. We asked what his thoughts were and are we now looking at cancer, because all the symptoms are pointing towards a cancer of some form, lumps under his skin, loss of weight etc. Stefano said he wasn’t sure and would send his blood off for further tests, hopefully we will get the results back soon. He did say that it is looking like his liver is not working as it should be because his eyes have started to yellow a little bit now as well.

It seems we take one step forward and 3 steps backwards. Stefano has taken him off one of the immune suppressants which has quite severe side effects, he also said Louis’s condition is keeping him awake at night trying to think what could be causing it! You can only imagine how we feel about it.

We’ve just had the call from Stefano and he said that the Billy Ruben has returned which has confirmed his liver is not working as well as should and has suggested we get a supplement that helps with liver problems, so we’ve ordered some in and will get his started on them asap, as always they are not cheap! Louis is due back on Monday for his weekly check up and Stefano said depending on how he has got on over the next few days he may want to take him back into hospital for some scans to see if there is anything sinister going on. More scans more money, but he's our boy and we will do everything we can to get him through this.

Once again can I ask everyone to keep your fingers crossed for him, I really think we are going to need all the help we can get, I noticed today now much weight he’s lost and how much he just sleeps, it’s like this illness has aged him years over the past 3 months, it’s frightening

Love Louis’s Mum xxx
